David Hoffman, a former Inspector General, federal prosecutor, and Supreme Court clerk, is Global Co-Leader of Sidley’s White Collar: Government Litigation and Investigations practice. He has tried over a dozen federal jury cases, argued and briefed multiple appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals, directed hundreds of investigations, and advised numerous public and private entities on ethics and compliance matters. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and disputes at both the trial and appellate levels, DOJ, SEC, and other government investigations, internal investigations, and work relating to data breaches and cybersecurity.

David is ranked in the 2021 edition of Chambers USA (2021), which recommends him for Litigation: White Collar Investigations and highlights his experience in internal investigations and matters involving fraud and bribery. The 2020 edition of Chambers quotes one client as stating, “he’s very, very smart, very thoughtful and deliberate in his approach, and he handles large, multijurisdictional cases excellently.”
