Abbott Brown's 17th Annual Medical Malpractice Seminar

Daryl L. Zaslow is a principal with the law firm of Eichen Crutchlow Zaslow & McElroy, LLP and is Certified by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. Mr. Zaslow’s zealous advocacy and transcendent preparation have been instrumental in achieving significant awards for his clients by way of trial verdicts and settlements. He concentrates his practice in various areas of medical malpractice, including obstetrical malpractice, failures in prenatal diagnosis of birth defects and failures in diagnosing cancer cases. He also represents victims in wrongful death and significant personal injury cases.

Ms. Strollo concentrates her practice of law in the defense of medical malpractice matters, including representation of hospitals, physicians, nurses, other hospital employees and hospital administrators.

Ms. Strollo received her B.A. from the University of
Pennsylvania in 1983 and her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1986. Ms. Strollo completed a course of study at the Notre Dame University School of Law, London campus in the summer of 1984. She served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable John A. Marzulli, Assignment Judge for Essex County from 1986 to 1987.

Ms. Strollo is admitted to the New Jersey State Bar, the Maryland State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar and the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Strollo has been a Certified Civil Trial Attorney since 1999. Ms. Strollo has been repeatedly named as a Super Lawyer by New Jersey Monthly Magazine for her work as a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney and has been elected to the American Board of Trial Attorneys. She has served as a Master of the American Inns of Court. Ms. Strollo regularly lectures on topics relevant to medical malpractice litigation to health care providers and lawyers.

James B. Sharp, a partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck, is a seasoned trial attorney with 35-plus years of experience who has built a reputation of integrity and skill in the courtroom.

Throughout the course of his distinguished career, Mr. Sharp has handled complex matters for his clients through all phases of litigation and appeal and has conducted more than 250 jury trials from jury selection to verdict. He has successfully obtained favorable results representing corporate and individual clients in sophisticated litigation including contract breach, product liability and professional negligence matters.

At Scarinci Hollenbeck, Mr. Sharp chairs the Professional Liability & Healthcare Law Group. He is a recognized expert in professional liability and insurance defense, with particular emphasis on health care. Mr. Sharp has been approved as defense counsel for Continental, Zurich, Crum & Forster, New Jersey Property & Liability Guarantee, Allstate, Hertz, MDAdvantage, Princeton, Pro-Mutual/Coverys, ProNational, Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), Medical Protective, ESIS ProClaim America, and Liberty Healthcare Systems.

Before joining Scarinci Hollenbeck, Mr. Sharp was the senior and founding partner of Sharp & Mahoney, a firm with a concentration in insurance litigation. He began his career as Legal Assistant to the Director of the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Mr. Sharp lectures for various educational, professional, and business entities on litigation preparation and trial practice in professional negligence matters.

Paul Schaaff is a partner with the New Jersey law firm of Orlovsky, Moody, Schaaff & Gabrysiak.

Gary Riveles is one of the firm's litigation partners, responsible for representing individuals, insurers, public entities and private companies in complex premises and product liability, medical and hospital negligence, toxic tort and insurance coverage matters and disputes. He joined the firm in 1995. He frequently appears before state and federal courts, governing/licensing Boards and in administrative and quasi-judicial hearings before executive departments and agencies of the government. As a trial attorney, Mr. Riveles has successfully tried more than 20 medical malpractice cases and has been Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney.

Michael Ricciardulli is partner at Ruprecht Hart Weeks & Ricciardulli, LLP. He was named a “Rising Star” in New Jersey Monthly and New Jersey Super Lawyers, 2006-07; and named among New Jersey's Best Lawyers by the same publications 2008-2012.

Dennis Donnelly has been recognized by the National Law Journal and his peers locally and nationally, as one of the best plaintiff's personal injury attorneys in New Jersey. He is the immediate past president of the New Jersey chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the current President of the most exclusive group of plaintiff's trial attorneys in the country, the Inner Circle of Advocates. He was also recently named to the Board of Directors of the Attorneys Information Exchange group, the only national association of lawyers who share information and strategy to successfully hold car manufacturers accountable for unsafe designs which kill and injure motorists every year. Dennis is also regularly asked to lecture around the country on trial advocacy topics, and has published articles on medical malpractice and products liability.

E. Drew Britcher leads trial practice at his firm and has successfully prosecuted and resolved numerous complex medical negligence, product liability and other personal injury claims. He has been certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney, and has been recertified three times. Certification is considered a reflection of an attorney's experience, knowledge and overall skill.

Drew has served as either counsel of record or amicus counsel in more than 25 reported decisions of the United State Supreme Court, the New Jersey Supreme Court and Appellate Division. He is a Past-President of the New Jersey Association for Justice, formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey Chapter (ATLA-NJ). He has served as the Chairperson of their Amicus and Medical Malpractice Committees for over a decade. He is also a Member of the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice.

Mr. Gold joined the firm in 2000, as a partner, with the firm's merger with Brown & Gold. His areas of practice are civil litigation with concentration in professional negligence, personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, insurance, environmental and complex commercial litigation.

Abbott S. Brown is a Partner with Lomurro, Munson, Comer, Brown and Schottland in Freehold, New Jersey, where he concentrates on civil litigation with an emphasis in medical and legal malpractice litigation.

Mr. Brown attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick and received his J.D. in 1978 from Rutgers University School of Law, Newark. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the Second and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal. Mr. Brown was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney in 1994, 2001, 2006 and 2013. In addition to New Jersey Medical Malpractice Law, 6th Ed. (NJLJ 2016) and New Jersey Medical Malpractice Cases, 4rd Ed. (NJICLE 2015), Mr. Brown is also the author of a chapter titled "Medical Experts," found in New Jersey Trial and Evidence Law (NJICLE 2003). Mr. Brown has had multiple editorials published in the New Jersey Star Ledger and The New York Times. Mr. Brown has also authored over 40 articles for numerous professional publications, and has delivered more than 80 lectures for NJICLE, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Jersey Association for Justice and other organizations.

Mr. Brown served on the Supreme Court Committee on Model Civil Jury Charges, the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection and Voir Dire, and the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America - New Jersey. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Distinguished Service by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America - New Jersey in April of 2001. Mr. Brown was named as one of New Jersey's "Top Ten Lawyers" in 2006, and one of New Jersey's "Top 100 Lawyers" in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Mr. Brown was recognized as one of the 50 Most Powerful People in New Jersey Healthcare in 2012.

Mr. Brown was an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law in the Health Law and Policy Program, where he has taught medical malpractice law from 1998 to 2010. He also lectured at the New Jersey Judicial College and served on the Board of Trustees of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and the District V-B Ethics Committee, and as Chair of the Medical Malpractice Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Brown has also served as a delegate to the New Jersey State Bar Association - Third Annual Judicial Administration Forum, and on the Special Committee on Implementation of a Pilot Medical Malpractice Mediation project.
