Planning for long-term care expenses and ensuring appropriate decision-making and housing options to protect your clients with disabilities requires that you stay up to date with all the changes in the law. At this seminar a panel of experts will discuss recent changes and provide advice on how to protect your clients. Medicare, Medicaid, private financing options, guardianships as well as other changes that affect the practice of elder law and planning for persons with disabilities will all be discussed.

    Distinguished Adjunct Professor
    New York Law School

    Peter J. Strauss, Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Law at the New York Law School, where he teaches Elder Law and is co-director of the Guardianship Clinic, is also Senior Counsel of Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., a national law firm, based in its New York office. He has practiced trusts and estate law since 1961 and has special expertise in the legal problems of aging and persons with disabilities and is a frequent lecturer on those issues. Mr. Strauss is a prolific author and has written articles for various publications including the New York Law Journal and Bottom Line Personal and has addressed many national professional and consumer organizations.


    Independent Certified Financial Planner

    Henry Montag is an Independent Certified Financial Planner as well as a CLTC. He¿s been in practice since 1976 with offices in Long Island, New York. He is a contributing writer for The Moneypaper, a National Financial publication, as well as a contributor for the Trusted Expert Network. He has held insurance and securities licenses for over thirty years. Mr. Montag has lectured extensively on the subject of the proper utilization of Insurance and Investment products that are used to protect and preserve assets, to organizations such as the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Society of CPAs, and various regional and local banks. In addition he has spoken to National Organizations such as the American Association of Individual Investors, the Whitehouse Conference on Aging and the American Society on Aging. Over the years he has developed an expertise in the overall coordination of a client¿s assets, their goals as well as the features and benefits currently available in the various financial products in the marketplace today. In addition, Mr. Montag has spoken before numerous community and civic organizations and acts as resource for various publications, radio and cable television programs.

Ms. Grimaldi is a certified Elder Law Attorney, Certified Social Worker, Chair of the Health Issues Committee of the NYS Bar Association's Elder Law Section and a Board Member of the N.Y.     James H. Cahill, Jr. is a member of the firm of Cahill & Cahill, P.C.founded in 1905 with offices in Brooklyn, New York.     Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program

    Valerie J. Bogart has been Director of the Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program at Selfhelp Community Services, Inc. since June 2002. Selfhelp is a non-profit organization started in 1936 to help people fleeing Nazi Germany. Now it provides housing, case management, senior center, and home care services for 18,000 seniors each year, including 4000 victims of Nazi persecution. The Evelyn Frank Legal Resources Program represents Selfhel'¿s clients and trains its social workers. Before coming to Selfhelp, Ms. Bogart was a senior attorney with Legal Services for the Elderly in New York City for twelve years, specializing in law reform litigation, training and policy in Medicaid and access to long-term home care services. A graduate of the New York University School of Law, she has lectured extensively for both legal and social services organizations, and has taught adjunct courses at CUNY and Fordham law schools.

    Russell N. Adler, a graduate of the New York University School of Law, devotes his practice exclusively to Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Elder Law and is a frequent lecturer on such topics. As a member of both the New York and New Jersey State bars, Mr. Adler practices at Epstein Becker & Green's New York and Newark offices and is Chairman of the Personal Planning Department. He is the Chair of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Legal Problems on Aging Committee, a designee to the New York State Bar Association Elder Law Section Executive Committee and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
