John R. Bollinger

John R. Bollinger is a shareholder with the Boleman Law Firm, P.C. and partner-in-charge of its Hampton, Va., office. The firm focuses exclusively in the area of consumer bankruptcy law and is the largest consumer bankruptcy practice in Virginia. He is a frequent speaker at local, regional and national organizations and is past president of the board of the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Mr. Bollinger has spoken before ABI, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, Virginia Bar Association (VBA), Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association (TBBA), Virginia Governors Conference on Housing, the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees and the Virginia Trial Lawyer’s Association, as well as a number of civic and business organizations. Additionally, he has served as the past president of the board for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.

Mr. Bollinger most recently served on the 2019 ABI Strategic Planning Committee and the 2019 and 2020 ABI “40 Under 40” Steering Committees. He currently serves as the Education Director of ABI’s Consumer Bankruptcy Committee and is an editor for ABI’s VOLO project.

Mr. Bollinger has been has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a “Virginia Rising Star” in the area of Consumer Bankruptcy Law. He received his J.D. from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law.

Summer M. Shaw is a founding member and bankruptcy lawyer of SHAW & HANOVER, PC a bankruptcy boutique law firm serving Southern California with its main office located in Palm Desert, California. Summer represents creditors and debtors in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. She is a fearless litigator and employs creative strategies to achieve exceptional results for her clients. Ms. Shaw started her career in 2002 at the Law Offices of George Hanover in Palm Desert. She quickly made partner at the firm Hanover & Shaw. The partners of Hanover & Shaw later teamed with Ms. Doling to form the highly regarded bankruptcy firm DOLING SHAW & HANOVER, APC.

Ms. Shaw was named as The American Bankruptcy Institutes‘ Top 40 Under 40 in 2017, and she has served as the President of the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum (IEBF), a division of the California Bankruptcy Forum. She was presented with the 2016 & 2017 Honor Roll of Pro Bono Volunteers of the Central District of California. Summer Shaw is a very active member of the bankruptcy bar serving as a Consumer Co-Chair of various education programs and was honored with The NACBA 2018 Distinguished Lawyer Award.

She is also a Professor of Bankruptcy law at the California Desert Trial Academy (CDTA).

Ms. Shaw is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in California, including the Supreme Court of California. In addition, she is admitted to practice before the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Hon. Bruce A. Harwood

Chief Judge
U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Hampshire

Hon. Bruce A. Harwood is Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the District of New Hampshire in Manchester, first appointed in March 2013. He also serves on the First Circuit’s Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Harwood chaired the Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Creditors’ Rights Group at Sheehan Phinney Bass Green in Manchester, N.H., representing business debtors, asset-purchasers, secured and unsecured creditors, creditors’ committees, trustees in bankruptcy, and insurance and banking regulators in connection with the rehabilitation and liquidation of insolvent insurers and trust companies. He was also a chapter 7 panel trustee in the District of New Hampshire and mediated disputes arising in debtor/creditor relations. Judge Harwood was program co-chair of ABI’s Northeast Bankruptcy Conference for four years, served on ABI’s Board of Directors (Communication, Information and Technology Committee) and was Northeast Regional Chair of the ABI Endowment Fund’s Development Committee. He is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and was consistently recognized in the bankruptcy law section of The Best Lawyers in America and in New England Super Lawyers, as well as in Chambers USA with a “Band 1” ranking in the field of corporate/commercial bankruptcy.

Judge Harwood received his B.A. from Northwestern University and his J.D. from Washington University School of Law.
