Each year, Ari Kaplan and OpenText partner to survey corporate legal professionals and gather their opinions on a range of eDiscovery, InfoGov, and technology questions. What metrics are you tracking? How is your caseload changing? What new security precautions are you taking? How have your responsibilities changed? Are robots taking your job?

In this breakout we’ll share survey data covering these questions and, joined by law firm and corporate legal guest speakers, engage in an interactive discussion on the state of the industry with diverse perspectives from consultants, vendors, outside counsel and corporate legal.

Adam also serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the McCarthy Institute for IP & Technology Law at the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Prior to joining OpenText, Adam worked as a legal analyst for a Fortune 500 company and as a senior research fellow at the McCarthy Institute for IP & Technology Law.

Adam holds a JD and MBA from the University of San Francisco and a BA from New York University.

Brent Holmes is a key member of DocuSign’s Customer Success team, where he works to proactively empower customers’ DocuSign Agreement Cloud journeys and enables champions to be change agents at their companies. Brent joined DocuSign as part of the company’s acquisition of Seal Software, the industry leader in AI-based contract analytics, where he served as Director of Customer Success.

Prior to joining Seal, Brent worked at Siemens Corporation driving innovation and excellence by applying technology and process within the Legal department as both the Head of Legal Technology & eDiscovery Program Director, and formerly as an IT Architect.

Brent holds his BA in Information Systems, is a PMI-PMP certified project manager and is CEDS certified.

Ari Kaplan, who has been writing for ALM publications since the late 1990s, is the author of The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career Through Creative Networking and Business Development (Thomson-West, 2008) and Reinventing Professional Services: Building Your Business in the Digital Marketplace (Wiley, 2011), which was also released in Japanese.

After nearly nine years practicing with large law firms in New York City, Kaplan, an inaugural Fastcase 50 honoree and a finalist for ILTA's 2015 Thought Leader of the Year award, has become a leading legal industry analyst. He is the principal researcher for a variety of widely distributed benchmarking reports and has also been the keynote speaker for events in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and throughout the U.S. Kaplan is the founder of the Lawcountability business development platform.
